The little town of Long Beach, Washington is only about 30 minutes from the neighboring town of Astoria and is an incredible place to stay and explore. Drive on the beach

Did you know Long Beach is home to one of the longest drivable beaches in the world? Just be sure to check advisories and only drive when it’s very low tide. 

Check out the Lighthouses

Long beach is home to a few incredible lighthouses that are a must-see during your stay. The North Head lighthouse is on the western side of the peninsula and the Cape Disappointment lighthouse is on the southern side. 

Visit Marsh’s Free Museum

March’s Free Museum is a very unique experience and a must see in Long Beach, WA. It has an eclectic collection of artifacts and trinkets to entertain and intrigue.

Try the Beards Hollow Hike

If you’re looking for a great hike in Long Beach, look no further than the Beards Hollow Hike. This hike is great for bird watching, and was once explored by Lewis and Clark. 

Hike or Bike the Discovery Trail

The Discovery Trail begins at the Port of Ilwaco where you’ll find a brass sculpture of a California Condor spreading its wings. This is the start of the 8.5-mile long hiking and biking trail named after the Corps of Discovery from Lewis and Clark’s travels. Their journey ended here on the Long Beach Peninsula, so there are several art installments dedicated to them along the trail – Try to spot them all!

Visit the World Kite Museum

Since Long Beach is home to the Annual International Kite Festival, you won’t be surprised to learn there is an awesome museum celebrating kites here as well. You won’t want to miss it.

Go Antiquing

Long Beach is an incredible place for antiquing. Some of the local favorite stops are Hobo Junction, North Coast Antique Mall, Nay Trader, Antique Gallery, and Just Treasures Antique Mall & Cafe,

Experience the Cranberry Museum

Located right near the Chautauqua Resort & Conference Center, the Cranberry Museum is a must see during your stay in Long Beach. Learn the fascinating history of cranberry cultivation in the area.

Check out the Funland Family Fun Center to find a great selection of arcade games. They also have laser tag!

Try the Saddle Mountain Hike

This challenging 2 ½ mile hike is a great option for the active type. It has excellent views of the cascade mountains and Columbia river on a clear day.

This cozy bookstore has a great selection and great cafe for a nice way to spend an afternoon. Grab a latte and a great novel and let your mind wander. 

Explore Fort Stevens

Camp, walk, or explore at the Fort Stevens State park. This expansive campground was once the site of a military installation. 

Dig for Clams

Lewis and Clark Museum

The Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center tells the story of the Lewis and Clark journey with a focus on their stay on the pacific coast. With great interactive exhibits and during the winter and spring you can see whales from the balcony.
