Just a really nice place, located within walking distance of the beach and boardwalk. Super friendly and helpful staf! I've been twice because it's so worth it!

I felt the need to add a review to help boost the hotel’s current rating, because our stay truly exceeded our expectations. We came with our children, and the hotel vastly exceeded what we were expecting. The rooms were beautiful, practical, and very comfortable, with great beds and pillows, blackout curtains, carpeting, and balconies with ocean views. The swimming pool was perfect for all ages and, most importantly, at just the right temperature. The jacuzzi was genuinely hot and absolutely hit the spot. The lobby was another pleasant surprise. There were lots of toys and games for children of different ages, books, and even a whole library of DVDs that guests could borrow and take to their rooms. There is also a piano that guests are welcome to play. These little touches made the hotel feel very family-friendly without being overly focused on children. And the breakfast deserves a special mention. It was probably the best continental breakfast I’ve had in the US. Yes, there were biscuits and gravy and sausage, but the quality was noticeably better than what you usually find at hotel breakfasts. There were also oatmeal, bagels with spreads, yogurt, fruit, milk, and many other options, including quite a few local products. The coffee was great (possibly local?), and there was real juice rather than the usual sugary drink. Normally, at hotel breakfasts like this, I just have coffee and some oatmeal because I find most hotel breakfast food barely edible. Here, though, I actually looked forward to breakfast. There are also volleyball nets, places to grill, windbreaks, and bikes available to borrow. There is a restaurant directly adjacent to the hotel, which is very convenient. And the hotel is just a few steps from the boardwalk, the train, and the beach. One thing worth mentioning as a minor negative: you can hear the people staying in the room above you. I imagine this could be annoying if you happen to have a group above you that stays up late. If you’re in doubt, I would recommend booking the top floor. You get no noise from above and, of course, the best view. It’s probably worth the small additional cost. One more thing: the current owner took over the hotel about four years ago and has apparently been improving it every year. So I would definitely take some of the older reviews with a grain of salt. It seems like the hotel has changed considerably since then. Overall, this was a fantastic family stay and a really pleasant surprise. Highly recommended!

Had a wonderful stay during a last minute trip for the 4th of July!! Staff was very kind & welcoming. Helpful & accommodating! The location is wonderful-right over the dunes to the ocean!! Breakfast is good also. Dark Harbor restaurant & bar was so neat as well! Room was quite big(double queen). We had a ground floor room with a small patio.

My family stayed here for a one-night getaway, and we had a great time. Chautauqua Resort is an older, 2-star hotel, so don’t expect rooms or amenities that compare to the Ritz-Carlton. The location is fantastic. There is a paved path that connects directly to the Discovery Trail, and the beach is a short walk. My kids enjoyed playing in the pool. In the pool area, there is also a dry sauna. I saw there were two pickleball courts, a beach volleyball court, outdoor patio furniture with a fireplace, and a new restaurant, called Dark Harbor. We stayed in two standard hotel rooms, and both of them had balconies and views of the ocean.

If you’re looking for a relaxing place on the coast, this is the one! Beautiful rooms! We got a condo, a lot of space, and beautiful interior! There is a walking trail, and some parts of it lead right down to the beach. It’s a beach that cars can be on, so keep an eye out for cars. But this resort is really nice! Nice indoor pool that’s heated!! Has some fun accommodations! Volley ball net, horseshoe, corn hole, bbq grills, and a cool sitting area with fire pits. There were some sort of courts too. Tennis? Pick ball? Check it out! Dog friendly too!

Very well kept and really friendly service. The price is a fair rate with a very extensive breakfast bar. Even gluten-free options. There is also an elevator, which is great if you have a handicap. Plus you can drive down on the beach.

We arrived the Saturday before Easter and were warmly greeted by Annie wearing bunny ears. It was only 1pm and check-in wasn’t until 4pm -but she checked her computer and our room was already clean. She said we could go right up but first gave us a tour of the facilities. This included pool, jacuzzi and sauna as well as bicycles you can borrow for free. A safe and beautiful pedestrian/bike path goes all the way down 5 miles to Cape Disappointment State Park where you can see pelicans dive into the sea looking for fish. It looks like the hotel made a recent attempt to remodel but a few amenities look a little tired. But that won’t keep us from staying there again!

The stay was so relaxing and enjoyable. Thr view from our room was incredible! The resort had so many things available for us - beach toys, pickleball paddles, beach blanket, etc. It made staying here so enjoyable. The breakfast was good and all the staff was very helpful and kind. We hope we will be able to stay again.

From the time I walked in to the time I left I felt at home and at peace. The front desk staff was more than pleasant and had us in our rooms in a short manner. The room we stayed in on the bottom floor had a full size king bedroom that had a flat screen smart tv and bathroom, the living room area has a queen size mattress and the couch was a futon so plenty of space to rest peoples heads! There is a kitchen in the condo which was sweet! A lot of places close early around the beach and if you want a late meal you can cook which is awesome. There was also a second bathroom with a shower as well. I slept like a baby. The beds are really comfortable at least in our room. The back patio has a sitting area with gas fire places to relax by. Horseshoe pits and cornhole. In the main parking lot there is tennis courts off to the side. Bring bikes, skate/longboards there is a long paved board walk right next to the beach. The resort is a very short walk to the beach. Amazing views and amazing time! Thank you for the stay. Definitely will recommend to friends and family and hope to come back soon.

Beautiful stay with the wife and some friends! The staff were friendly and enjoyable to talk to. The rooms all face the ocean and we had some spectacular sunset views. The beach is an easy five minute walk down a paved path, hard to beat that. Out back they have a couple propane grills that we took full advantage of. The breakfast in the morning also hit the spot. We will be back!

Excellent service. Arrived at 11:30pm and Victoria was at the desk ready to help with all needs. Convenient pathway to the beach allows easy access for anyone(walked barefoot from the room to the beach). Animal friendly. Continental breakfast hit the spot every morning. Friendly atmosphere for kids and family. Definitely stop by and check them out! 10/10!!!
