Our History and Leadership

The Chautauqua Resort and Conference Center is led by Chester Trabucco, a seasoned operator with more than thirty years of experience revitalizing historic properties. Chester previously served on the Executive Board of the Friends of the Liberty Theater in Astoria, OR, where his innovative approach led to the purchase and full renovation of the Hotel Elliott. The hotel reopened as a luxury boutique property and became a catalyst for Astoria's downtown renaissance, earning recognition from the State of Oregon as the project with the greatest economic impact on its downtown core.

Proven Track Record of Transformation

Twelve years after the Hotel Elliott restoration, Chester along with local partners, took on the Astoria Riverwalk Inn project. Their efforts upgraded the reputation and appeal of the 116-room hotel, formerly the iconic Red Lion Hotel, overlooking the marina and Columbia River. Within just two years, the Astoria Riverwalk Inn was ranked among the top three hotels in Astoria at the time.

Our Continued Vision for Chautauqua Resort and Conference Center

Building on these successes, Trabucco formed Long Beach Hospitality Ventures LLC (LBHV) and has for the past five years invested his experience, capital and passion in the Chautauqua Resort and Conference Center. Since becoming involved in early 2021, LBHV has articulated a vision to restore the resort to its status as a premier destination on the Long Beach Peninsula. We are proud of the ongoing updates to the grounds and common areas, including multiple firepit areas, two pickleball courts and the exciting announcement of the opening of Dark Harbour, a Tiki Bar and Restaurant by the renowned operators of Devil’s Reef and the Gilman House in Tacoma! Continual updates to both our hotel rooms and condominium suites have been a mainstay of our delivering a much-improved guest experience. Our central focus continues to be instilling a prideful culture, ensuring each guest feels welcomed from booking through departure, with an emphasis on creating lasting memories and experiences for you and your family.
